Mix Tape #16 - There's A Kazoo In Here Somewhere

This is pretty random, but it gave me much joy. Hopefully, it will give you joy, too.

I apologize in advance for that truly shitty Partridge Family rip. Here's how it's supposed to sound.

I dunno. The version included here sends the needle into the red and it actually sounds somehow threatening. To me, it spices up a horribly whitebread treatment of that great song, so I kept it in there.

I'm pretty sure that Mark Arm song is in my all time top 5. And that's all I really have to say, so here's the tracklist:

Mix Tape #15 - TV Party

I've been watching way too much TV. This can mostly be blamed on RTN. I think they're having financial difficulties, so the channel could be yanked any day now. And, for my sake, I hope it is.

The thing I, sadly, look forward to every week is Kraft Suspense Theater. It's a series of hour-long dramas from the 60's where, say, Robert Logia will try to con a schoolteacher out of her money and she'll end up stealing his heart. IT'S. AMAZING.

Here. Watch some.

Oh. And I know firsthand that the people selling those online taped them off a black and white tv set. Which is actually fortunate, because they include the original ads and I think some of those Kraft recipes would induce spontaneous vomitting if they were in color.

While I haven't been very discriminate in my TV choices, I'm done with Ironside. He's a pushy dick and I wish he'd fall off an escalator.

Whoa. I totally just made that happen.

Oh. Anyway. Music. A lot of this was lifted from this now-defunct blog. God bless its still digital heart.

And I know I use that Scrawl song way too much, but it's apt here.

And even though this is mostly TV-themed, there's stuff in there that has nothing to do with TV. Confusing!

Here's the tracklist:

Side A
1. Mike Post - The Rockford Files
2. The Sound Apparatus - Travel Agent Man
3. Henry Mancini - Police Woman

10. The Pointer Sisters - Pinball Number Count
11. Quincy Jones - Ironside

Lolitas - My English Sucks

This was Francoise Cactus's band before Stereo Total, and this was their covers record. Half of which I'm not even sure what the original sounded like. And after their treatment, I don't feel like I even need to know.

Oh. Francoise. Such a beautiful flower. I don't think you want to know this, but I don't care. This is my current desktop image.

Here. Hear their cover of "Sonic Reducer."

And here is the tracklist:

3. Kissmouth
4. Sonic Reducer
5. Skulls
6. She's Rockin

Mix Tape #14 - I Listened To This One A Whole Lot

My God. Finders Keepers records is just the best. Two of this week's entries come from them. I found them used at Cellophane Square (where they've jacked up the price of every weird soundtracky/world thing because, I think, they've realized I'm a sucker and will buy them all anyway).

If you'd like to hear a smidge of what you're in for, here's a youtube.

I'm not sure what's going on in that video. It looks like someone synched up the ripping studio version of that song to a really listless stage performance. But, eh, the song's just so good it doesn't really matter.

I don't know what else to say about this one other than Princess Superstar is hot and that DOA track was recorded live at The Jockey Club. Reprazent.

Anyway, here's the track list:

Side A
1. Razzy and the Neighborhood Kids - I Hate

10. Boris - Free
11. Armando Trovaioli - Canard a' L'Orange
12. Princess Superstar - Untouchable Part 2
13. The John Schroeder Orchestra - Explosive Corrosive Joseph

Side B
